Sizes of the queen bed

Ever since the beginning of the new millennium, technological advances have caused many revolutions and developments in recent years, markets have grown greatly with consumers having different wants and needs in the modern world. The furniture companies have also been implemented in the same way. People today have different wishes and needs when they ask about the bed size they want in their rooms and so furniture companies like IKEA had come up with many different models and sizes of beds that suit the consumer’s needs and wishes.

After the introduction of king size in the 19th century. There was a huge demand for a medium size between the king size and the usual double size that could fit the upper class of the middle class. Queen-size beds were introduced in the mid-20th century by Americans as a luxury bed size with reference to a medieval title of a queen. In the mid-1950s, the American furniture industry introduced a new queen-size bed size that was introduced compared to the previous king-size bed size that was introduced earlier.

This bed size became more suitable for tall consumers so that the toes do not fall out of the bed. With its spacious dimensions of 60 inches wide and 80 inches long, the queen bed has the large market share for tall adults due to its cost effective price compared to king size. Many non-standard queen sizes were also introduced in the furniture market as experiments that did not prove to be as successful as the standard sizes.

This terminology was developed by the Americans and is also more commonly called the king size. The British queen size is quite more spacious than the American queen size with its 66 inches wide and 80 inches long. It will be the perfect bed size for adult couples.

This terminology is also used by Americans and refers to a bed size slightly larger than the standard queen size that is 64 inches wide and 80 inches long. This terminology is not used in the UK as a bed size. This bed size is most often used for waterbed mattresses.

The split queen size is the standard queen size which is divided into two halves of 30 inches wide and 80 inches long to fit the bed size for different needs and purposes.
